At @fairmontbanff , our Food & Beverage department is taking a bold step in the fight against food waste.

Last year, we introduced @orbisk_zero_food_waste AI image recognition technology in our staff cafeterias. Each plate that comes back is scanned, giving us real insights into what’s being wasted and in what amounts.

Our colleagues see firsthand that they’re not just coming in for a meal, they’re contributing to something much bigger: a culture of sustainability and care that impacts our hotel, our community, and the environment around us.

Last week, our SWEP students got a taste of the world of cocktails during our third event of the season: Mixology 101, hosted by none other than Sam Clark, Director of Beverage at @fairmontbanff. 🍸

With over 12 years of experience in beverage management and as a Top 3 Finalist in World Class Canada (one of the world’s most prestigious cocktail competitions), Sam brought expertise, flair, and passion to the session.

Students learned how to craft two classic cocktails, the Margarita and the Old Fashioned while gaining insight into the art and science behind mixology.

Last week, we were thrilled to host our second SWEP (Student Work Experience Program) event of the season at @fairmontbanff !

The session was led by our inspiring Director of Housekeeping, Teriska Walters, who shared her incredible career journey within Fairmont. Her passion and insights left a lasting impression, and students had the chance to ask thoughtful questions about her path in hospitality leadership.
